Laparoscopic Splenectomy

Despite the fact that the spleen is an organ very important in our immunological system, in many hematological diseases it is necessary to take it out. This traditionally was accomplished by a formal laparotomy, but we approach these patients laparoscopically.

Laparoscopic Adrenalectomy

Tumors in the adrenal glands normally need to be taken out, due to its size, abnormal functioning (the adrenal glands are where many important substances in our body, like cathecolamines and some hormones, are made) or malignancy. Laparoscopic surgery is considered by many authors the procedure of choice for adrenalectomy, and is routinely performed at our Institute.

Laparoscopic Liver Resection

Sometimes a liver resection is needed, like when metastases or any other kind of cyst or tumor are present. We usually perform this procedure laparoscopically and have seen very promising results with this approach.
